Item: Table Spoon Description: Old English (hallmarking oddity) Hallmark: London 1807 by Thomas Hayter Dimensions: 220 mm long, 57g weight Comments: A rare spoon with two sets of hallmarks; one offset and the other in the correct position. The maker's mark would have been struck in Hayter's workshop. Presumably the person at the assay office responsible for marking this spoon had a few too many at lunchtime and almost missed the spoon on his first attempt. Oddities such as this are proving to be a new field of collecting.
