Item: Seal Top Spoon Description: Gilt seal, fig shaped bowl.Hallmark: London 1639 by Wm Cary Dimensions: 172mm long,  44 grams weight

Comments: Fine seal top by one of the "Top 15" makers as described by T Kent in his book "London Silver Spoonmakers 1500-1697".N.B. This will have been one of Cary’s first spoons as he was freed from his apprenticeship in 1638.

Condition: very good; minor bruising to base of bowl from table contact and slight thinning of right tip of bowl lip from use (has not affected the profile/shape of the bowl). Contemporary dot prick engraved wedding initials to flat plate of seal "IH" over "MB".
