Item: Napkin Ring Description: D-shape with
chased Art Nouveau decoration Hallmark: London 1909 by
William Hutton & Sons (Kate Harris design) Dimensions: 44mm
high x 36mm wide; 55 grams Comments: A rare
silver napkin or serviette ring by Huttons whose chief designer at the time,
Kate Harris, was one the foremost names of the Art Nouveau movement in the
field of silver. It is superby
decorated with chased tendrils of a three leaf flower and to the
centre is the word "PUNJAUB" in relief. We are not sure what
Punjaub means - possibly the alternate name for the Indian province of
Punjab home to the Sikh religion - further research may help discover it's
meaning!
