Antique Silver Spoons

Item: Dessert Spoon Description: Bacchanalian pattern Hallmark: London 1854 by George Adams Dimensions: 163mm long, 42 grams

Comments: A good dessert spoon in a highly sought after pattern.

Bacchanalian Pattern was first designed in 1812 by Stothard and produced by Paul Storr. The decoration depicts ancient Greeks revelling in intemperate drinking to the front (a sleeping bacchante occupies the stem, a reclining bacchante feeds grapes to a panther which turns to look at a youth seated on its back), a wine urn (a Bacchic trophy) to the reverse and a mask of the Greek God of Wine, Bacchus, to the heel of the bowl.
