Antique Silver Spoons

Item:  Caddy Spoon Description: Balmoral Castle Hallmark: Edinburgh 1909 by William Robb (of Ballater) Dimensions: 89mm length

Comments: Highly desirable and rarely found example of this 20th Century Scottish Provincial spoon. These spoons only occasionally appear on the market and are continually increasing in price.

The decoration on the handle consists of Scotland's thistle and lion rampant, plus the Union crown. The superbly chased bowl depicts Balmoral Castle (Queen Victoria's favoured Scottish retreat). All the features on this spoon are in excellent crisp condition, as is the distinctive triangular maker's mark.

See "The Caddy Spoon in the 20th Century" pages 28-29.
