Antique Silver

 About Us

We are a silver dealing and silversmithing company based in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire in the UK.

We specialise in buying and selling antique silver and have been established for 20 years. We are proud of our reputation in the antique silver trade for both honesty and integrity, this in conjunction with our competitive prices, means we continue to earn repeat orders from long time clients and are gaining new ones all the time. Rest assured, we welcome all enquiries, whether large or small, and will treat you in a fair and friendly manner.

All items we sell are fully guaranteed, and in the unlikely event of disappointment we will offer a full refund within 10 days of receipt.

Our Managing Director, Gary Bottomley, has a particular passion for old spoons and the vast bulk of material used in the construction of this web-site comes from the knowledge he has gained from the 20 years experience he has with dealing in antique silver.

In addition to the standard information about old spoons to be found on this site, we have added useful in-the-field tips, particularly with regards to condition, to aid the would-be spoon collector or silver canteen buyer. If you wish to learn more about a particular subject you may find it useful to look at the spoon book reviews page, alternatively contact us and we will attempt to point you in the right direction.

We hope you find the site useful and we welcome any comments that you may wish to make about our web-site.

Acknowledgments

There are several people to whom I owe particular thanks. Mandy for her patience in teaching me the rudiments of web-site production. Jim for teaching himself to use a digital camera, with an awkward subject matter in difficult surroundings - not too many reflections! Jean, as always, for her multiple talents in helping things along and to Mark for his usual high quality of workmanship.

In particular, I need to thank Caroline, my wife, for her support and tolerance when I was spending time on the web-site when it should have perhaps been spent elsewhere! Furthermore she has endured many hours of uploading photos, typing details and editing with barely a grumble.

Thanks also to everybody who has kindly sent words of encouragement - it makes it all worthwhile!
