Item: Wine Label Description: Brandy; feather-edge scroll with surmount Hallmark: London circa 1775 by Hester Bateman Dimensions: 62 mm wide Comments: A particularly fine example of one of the most popular types of Hester Bateman label. This label has the addition of a chased vine and grapes motif to either side of the name. The decoration is crisp throughout with neither engravings nor erasures to the surmount. The label is marked in typical fashion for the pre-1784 period and both "HB" maker's mark and the lion passant are well struck and in good order.
