Item: Sugar Tongs Description: Bright-cut engraved Hallmark: London circa 1780 by Hester Bateman Dimensions: 141mm long Comments: A fine pair of sugar tongs in a typical style of the Bateman workshop. The outside of the bow bears the engraved initials of the original owner. The tongs are marked in typical fashion for the pre-1784 period and both "HB" maker's mark and the lion passant are well struck and in good order.
