Item: Teapot Description: Oval; bright-cut engraved Hallmark: London 1789 by Hester Bateman Dimensions: 274mm long; 150mm high; 2 pints (1100ml) volume; 427grams

Comments: A first rate example of a Georgian silver teapot with the added bonus of bearing the Hester Bateman makers mark. This oval teapot is decorated with attractive bandings of bright-cut engraving and a rectangular cartouche with contemporary to manufacture block script initials. A sign of the teapot's high quality is the superb flush or secret hinge for the cover which remains in excellent condition with no play. The condition is excellent throughout with neither damage nor repairs.
