Item: Travelling Inkwell Description: Rectangular
with swivel mechanism Hallmark: London
1875 by William Wright & Frederick Davis Dimensions: 63mm
x 45mm; 120g weight Comments: An excellent
quality example of a Victorian travelling inkwell. The inkwell is opened
by pushing one end down so that the central section swivels on an axis and
can stand upright. Pushing the button opens the catch to reveal a snug
fitting inner glass ink bottle. The lid is corked to form a seal to
prevent leakage. This inkwell has a really hefty feel in the hand and the
good gauge of silver used in it's manufacture ensures that the glass is
safe from harm. The complex engraved cipher is indicative of the high
quality of this piece.
