Item: Caddy Spoon Description:
Feathered wing with filigree panel Hallmark: Birmingham 1806 by
Samuel Pemberton Dimensions: 71 mm length
Comments: One of the most beautiful of all
caddy spoons. This fine example has a superbly made filigree panel to the
centre of the bowl (unusually on this piece it is in perfect condition).
Filigree became popular in Birmingham made spoons for a period of about
fifteen years at the beginning of the 19th Century, following an influx of
specialist Italian filigree craftsman. This example is fully and clearly
marked around the ring handle.
