Antique Silver Spoons

Item: Sweetmeat Fork Description: Trefid with 'ears' Hallmark: London circa 1690 by TN crowned  Dimensions:  103 mm length

Comments: An excellent sweetmeat fork with an usual form of trefid terminal. As yet we have been unable to ascribe the maker (potentially a bargain if it can be successfully attributed!).

Provenance: The How of Edinburgh Sale on October 30th 2007.

How of Edinburgh were the leading experts in early spoons. They were retailing from the early 1930's onwards and produced the groundbreaking work "English & Scottish Silver Spoons and Pre-Elizabethan Hallmarks" in the 1950's.
