Item: Sweetmeat Forks (3) Description: Dog Nose Hallmark: Exeter circa 1720 by Edmond Richards Dimensions:  114 mm length 

Comments: An exceptionally rare trio of West Country forks. Each fork is marked with the maker's mark of Edmond Richards (see "West Country Spoons & Their Makers" by Tim Kent page 127). 

We are prepared to sell these forks as a set, a pair or singletons. They are all in very similar condition and if being bought as singles are priced at £200 each.

Provenance: The How of Edinburgh Sale on October 30th 2007.

How of Edinburgh were the leading experts in early spoons. They were retailing from the early 1930's onwards and produced the groundbreaking work "English & Scottish Silver Spoons and Pre-Elizabethan Hallmarks" in the 1950's.
