Item: Caddy Shovel Description: Celtic
design; hammered bowl Hallmark: Iona circa 1950 by Iain
MacCormick Dimensions: 90mm long
Comments: Following on from the success of the
famous Ionian silversmith Alexander Ritchie, Iain MacCormick set up his
own Iona workshop with designs inspired by Celtic art and his surrounding
landscape. Most of his work comprised jewellery, however the occasional
larger piece is found. This hand-made spoon has Celtic imagery along it's
stem with an intentionally, crudely hammered bowl. The spoon is marked to
the reverse with his I.M.C initials, plus the Iona, and
Sterling Scotland marks.
