Item: Caddy Spoon Description: Bright-cut with flower bowl
Hallmark: Birmingham
1800 by Thomas Willmore Dimensions: 64mm long Comments: A
small and dainty caddy spoon with attractive engraving and a fluted bowl
in the form of a flower. Interestingly there is no anchor mark to this
spoon and on first glance one would suspect a London made spoon. However
we sold a near identical 1802 example by the same maker with the same
hallmarking omission and the date letter confirms it to be a Birmingham
made spoon. Please see this link.
Presumably this spoon was below a certain weight limit and the anchor mark
was deemed unnecessary.
