Antique Silver

Item: Caddy Spoon Description: Jockey Cap Hallmark: Birmingham 1799 Dimensions: 55mm long

Comments: An excellent example of a highly desirable Georgian period jockey cap caddy spoon. Jockey cap spoons were first introduced in 1797, so this example was made in the early period. They vary in the way they are hallmarked (some not at all) and this has a full set of marks apart from the maker. However, it is almost certainly by Thomas Willmore who specialised in this form of jockey cap - please click here for an identical example and see also "Caddy Spoons: An Illustrated Guide" by J Norie - plate 95a . Excellent condition.
