Antique Silver

Item: Caddy Spoon Description:  Hallmark: London 1797 by Peter & Ann Bateman Dimensions: 79mm long

Comments: A fine example of the Bateman family trademark tea caddy spoon. This distinctive form of spoon with it's shell bowl and handle attached to the back ledge of the shell, was made by all members of the family from Hester to the partnership between Peter & William. This spoon is in fine condition and has clear hallmarks (including a good example of the cusped duty mark denoting the doubling of duty in 1797).
