32-piece Old English Pattern Canteen, Sheffield 1936 by Cooper Brothers Old English Pattern Old English Pattern was first introduced circa 1770 and has always been a very favoured pattern ever since due to it’s elegant and simple form. The Maker Cooper Brothers were a good quality Sheffield based producer of silver flatware from 1850 to 1864. The Service This good quality same maker (straight) half canteen is in beautiful polished condition and none of the pieces have been engraved. All the spoon bowls and fork tines remain in first class condition. Each piece has a good solid feel in the hand. This flatware service benefits from having both a set of table spoons and a set of soup spoons, giving the owner extra flexibility by using the table spoons as servers. At only £30 per piece (compare with buying new!) this service is exceptionally good value for money. Knives can be purchased as optional extras. Components and Measurements This 32-piece service consists of the following:
Total weight of weighable silver 1924 grams (61.9 tr. oz.) Optional Extras
Condition Excellent. All the fork tines are full length and spoon bowls retain their thick tips. There are neither engravings nor erasures. The canteen appears to have been seldom used (probably only for special occasions) and is therefore in fine condition throughout. Presentation This service is offered loose (i.e. as it comes), however, anti-tarnish cutlery rolls are available on request. As with all the canteens available from our web-site, we are happy to send a sample place setting for approval, on receipt of a fully refundable surety payment, prior to purchasing this canteen.
