53-piece Art Deco Canteen, Sheffield 1936 by Angora
We are offering for sale a lovely quality Art Deco straight canteen presented within it's original wooden case. All the silver pieces in this canteen were made by the same maker in 1936 and it comprises eight pieces per six place settings plus a carving set and serving spoons. Each piece is in superb polished condition. A major bonus is the presence of the wooden box which is also Art Deco in form with a beautiful curved dome to the cover.
The Pattern
The pattern is designed in the Art Deco manner with an elegant, streamlined appearance with a stepped border and the addition of chevrons to the centre of the stem.
The Maker
All pieces in this service were made by Angora - a major Sheffield manufacturer.
The Service
This extensive canteen is beautifully presented in a green baize lined box. All the pieces are in fabulous polished condition. Each piece has a good solid feel in the hand and benefit from not being engraved. All items were made by the same maker at the same date. There are eight pieces for six place settings with the addition of two table/serving spoons and a carving set. The knives are engraved with the maker's name and have bone effect handles and best quality Sheffield-made stainless steel blades..

Condition
Excellent. All the fork tines are full length and spoon bowls retain their thick tips and are in stunning polished condition. The canteen is in fine condition throughout. The box has a very small chip to the veneer at the back of the lid.
Presentation
This canteen benefits from being presented in a superb Art Deco box with a beautiful curved dome to the cover and an ivory effect handle. The box stands on four bun feet and the interior is lined with green baize. The box has a lock, but no key is present (a good High Street locksmith could easily provide one if required).
