60-piece Old English Pattern Canteen by Walker & Hall
We are pleased to off a comprehensive silver Old English Pattern canteen by Walker & Hall. This canteen offers great flexibility and is great value for money. The price shown is for the basic 60-piece service consisting of twelve soup spoons (round bowls), table forks, dessert forks, dessert spoons and teaspoons. However we are able to offer plenty of additional pieces and a choice of knives. If you wish, you can even change the basic canteen to suit your needs.

Old English Pattern
Old English Pattern was first introduced circa 1770 and was highly fashionable through to circa 1800. It has always been a very favoured pattern due to it’s elegant and simple form and has been produced continually to the present day with a resurgence of popularity in the early 20th Century.
The Maker
Walker & Hall have been one of the most well known silver makers in the UK since the 1880's and continue to be so today. Beginning life in the mid 1800’s Walker & Hall were one of the largest manufacturers and retailers of silver and plate from the late 19th Century and first half of the 20th Century. The original partnership, including George Walker, traded as Walker & Co.. Henry Hall joined the partnership in 1848, the firm was renamed Walker, Coulson & Hall, before becoming just Walker & Hall in 1853.
The name is still used for retail outlets, although they were taken over by Mappin & Webb in the 1960’s. They were top quality machine-made producers of all major flatware patterns and canteens and their products are easily recognised by their distinctive W&H mark within a flag.
The Service
All pieces in this service were made by the renown Walker & Hall in Sheffield between 1878 and 1946. If you wish to have round bowled soup spoons (as opposed to the oval bowled table spoon), then this canteen is ideal for you. We are able to add pieces to this canteen for additional place settings (e.g. 18 or 24 place settings) or can supply extra numbers of any particular piece.

Condition
Excellent. All the fork tines are full length and spoon bowls retain their thick tips. There are neither engravings nor erasures and the service is beautifully polished throughout.
Presentation
This canteen is priced loose, however we will be happy to supply anti-tarnish cutlery rolls on request.
