76 piece Sandringham Pattern Canteen, Sheffield 1935/6 by E Viner

We are pleased to be able to offer a twelve person canteen in the most popular of all the patterns to emerge from the Art Deco movement. This straight canteen benefits from being made in the best Sheffield manner and is in superb polished condition.

Sandringham Pattern

With it's Art Deco influenced streamlined appearance, Sandringham Pattern remains one of the most popular of all 20th Century patterns. It was designed by Viners circa 1930 and it's simple, yet elegant looks will complement any table service. This canteen is in the superior quality double struck version (i.e. the pattern can be seen on both sides).

The Maker

Viners were a large Sheffield based out-fit founded in 1900 and were the most well-known Sheffield manufacturer from the 1930’s to 60’s. They were an innovative company producing many new and popular designs.

The Service

It is a "straight" canteen (i.e. all pieces were made at the same time by a single maker)  Each silver piece is hallmarked Sheffield 1935/6 by E Viner. The knives have simulated bone handles and stainless steel blades. All the pieces are in fabulous polished condition and have not been engraved. Each piece has a good solid feel in the hand.
