Fiddle & Thread Pattern Canteen, Sheffield 1889 by Walker & Hall
The restrained decoration of fiddle & thread pattern treads the fine line between elegant/simple and ornate/decorative. The pattern is double struck (i.e. on the front and reverse sides of each item). This particular canteen greatly benefits from having no engravings (initials/crests) and none have ever been erased. Each piece has a good hefty weight to it and feels very solid in the hand - the table forks weigh 3 troy ounces each. Components and Measurements This 22-piece service consists of the following:
6 off Table/dinner Forks; length: 8.4" (213mm); weight: 570 grams (18.3
tr. oz.);
6 off Dessert Spoons; length: 7.5" (191mm); weight: 386grams (12.4 tr.
oz.);
6 off Dessert Forks; length: 7.2" (183mm); weight: 362grams (11.6
tr. oz.);
4 off Table/serving Spoons; length: 9.25" (235mm); weight: 390
