Hallmark: Birmingham 1865 by Edward Smith
Dimensions: 100mm x 71mm
Comments: A beautifully engine turned card
case within it's original presentation case. The interior is lined with
purple watered silk (some stains). There are a few minor dings around the
edges. The hallmarks are spread in "Birmingham box" style
between the two halves.

Description: Gentleman's case with slide
dispenser (figure 2.20 in the book)
Hallmark: London 1913 by Henry Williamson Ltd.
Dimensions: 83mm x 42mm
Comments: This card case has a patented method
of removing cards from the case, by sliding cards up one at a time using
the finger grip and pushing open the cover. The spring mechanism however
no longer works. An engraved cipher can be found under the grip. There are
a few minor dings to the reverse side.

Comments: An attractive engine turned case
with a sprung hinge. The cards are held in place by a cloth band. The
front is engraved "Vera" and in all probability is the name of
the original owner.
