Antique Silver

Item: Spoon Description: Trefid Hallmark: Exeter 1705 by John Avery Dimensions: 208mm long; 43grams

Comments: A superb example of a fully marked Exeter trefid spoon. This spoon has a lot going for it: fine condition, good set of hallmarks, original betrothal initials with date and an unusual form of beading to the rattail. The latter is made up as a central rattail with beading, but this is enclosed by an elongated "V" with a single bead at the top of each line.

The condition is excellent with a full bowl and fine patina. The Britannia Standard hallmarks are all legible with a clear "E" date letter and "Av" new standard maker's mark.
