Comments: An exceptionally rare north country
trefid spoon. The spoon has a very clear maker's mark for this Newcastle
maker. This dessert sized spoon is typically light in weight for the
period and origin, and has some wear to the rarely found decorated
rattail.
Provenance: The How of Edinburgh Sale on October
30th 2007.
How of Edinburgh were the leading experts in early spoons.
They were retailing from the early 1930's onwards and produced the
groundbreaking work "English & Scottish Silver Spoons and
Pre-Elizabethan Hallmarks" in the 1950's.
