Item: Spoon Description: Engraved
Trefid Hallmark: London c.1697-1700 by John Ladyman Dimensions: 111mm
long
Comments: A superb example of a rare late 17th
Century engraved trefid teaspoon from the William & Mary period. The
original gilding is intact throughout and the general condition is
excellent. The engraving is contemporary to the spoon and includes the
desirable flame-back decoration around the rattail to the reverse of the
bowl. The cartouches to both sides of the terminal are free from engraving
and have always been so (i.e. no erasures). The Britannia Standard
hallmarks are clear (no date letter as is typical for a spoon of this
size). N.B. This spoon is one of a pair - please ask if you are
interested in buying both.
