Antique Silver

Item: Teaspoon and Sweetmeat fork Description: Engraved Trefid Hallmark: London c.1695 by Jean Harache Dimensions: 96mm long (spoon) & 91mm long (fork)

Comments: It is very rare to find a teaspoon and sweetmeat fork in combination. This pair bear almost identical engraved decoration, including a maiden's face looking out from the front terminals. The cartouches to the reverse sides remain blank. The spoon is clearly marked with the maker's mark of Jean Harache (crown over IH over a lion rampant). This mark will pre-date the introduction of the new standard in 1697. The fork is unmarked. The fork is in excellent condition and the spoon has some wear to the front right of the bowl.
