Antique Silver

Item: Spoon Description: Seal-top Hallmark: Circa 1659 by ID Dimensions: 167 mm long, 50g weight

Comments: A fine quality seal top spoon with a good hefty weight and superb condition and patina. The seal terminal has distinctive features and crude dot pricking (illegible) to the end. The deep fig-shaped  bowl retains both it's shape and thick rim. The spoon is marked four times with a clear "ID" mark. The Commonwealth period (1659) dated inscription on the back of the bowl is almost certainly contemporary to the time of manufacture and the spoon is probably West country in origin..
