Antique Silver

Item:  Table Spoon Description: Trefid Hallmark: London 1697 by William Scarlett Dimensions: 198mm long, 45g weight

Comments: An excellent Britannia Standard trefid spoon with beaded rattail. This spoon dates from the first year of the introduction of the purer Britannia Standard (95.8%) silver and bears an excellent set of hallmarks. There is a minor flaw (known as "flaking" or "silver lamination" - not a repair) to the edge of the bowl. There is also a set of dot-pricked betrothal initials to the reverse terminal. but these are so lightly engraved that they are hard to read.

Ref.: ED/4425 Price: SOLD
