Item: Spoon Description: Seal-top Hallmark: London
1637 Dimensions: 162mm; 41grams Comments: A
fine Charles I period seal top spoon in excellent original condition. The
cast seal is attractively decorated and the bowl is in great condition
maintaining its' original size and shape. The hallmarks are very good too,
with a clear bowl mark. The date letter to the reverse stem is a little
rubbed, and we have not quite worked out the makers' mark: appears to be
within a dotted circle and the initials either begin with an "I"
(if viewed from the bowl) or end in an "S" if viewed from the
side. The lack of attribution has been accounted for in the very competitive
price of under £1000, but the spoon itself is a fine example of its' type.
