Item: Spoon Description: Seal-top Hallmark: London
1606 by William Cawdell Dimensions: 168mm; 45 grams Comments: A
fine quality James I period seal top spoon made by one of the greatest
spoonmakers of the late 16th and early 17th centuries. This spoon was made
in the year following the Gunpowder Plot and is in great original condition
with dot-pricked initials to the terminal. It retains its' full sized bowl
and crisp decoration to the cast seal finial. The condition of the hallmarks
set this spoon apart from its' contemporary counterparts - the bowl mark is
very clear and the three stem marks are in an especially fine state of
preservation. A great spoon with no negative issues.
