Item: Spoon Description: Apostle Hallmark: London
1614 by Martin Hewett Dimensions: 181mm; 58 grams Comments: A
very good James I period London made apostle spoon. The cast finial is gilt
and bears a faint sacred dove in flight to the nimbus. The original
"V" notch join is clearly visible. The bowl of this spoon is full
and maintains its' original shape with just some very minor wear to the
leading edge. The hallmarks are excellent with particularly crisp hallmarks
to the reverse of the hexagonal stem. The spoon has a good weight and for
its' great age is in fine collectable condition.
