Antique Silver

Item: Serving Spoon Description: Canon-handled Hallmark: London 1707 (Britannia Standard) by Lawrence Jones Dimensions: 365mm long; 165 grams

Comments: A superb Queen Anne period 14.5" long silver serving spoon in fabulous condition. Few of these large basting spoons have survived in good order as the hollow handles are prone to damage. Apart from a couple of very tiny dings, this piece has survived remarkably well. It has a typically large and deep bowl with a bold rattail to the underside. The Britannia Standard hallmarks to the lower stem are very crisp and a lion's head erased mark is also punched to the side of the bowl.
