Antique Silver

Item: Basting Spoon Description: Dog-nose Hallmark: London 1706 by Thomas Spackman Dimensions: 330mm long; 156 grams

Comments: A fantastic example of a Queen Anne period basting spoon. This large 13" spoon has a really hefty weight and bears a superb set of Britannia Standard hallmarks. The condition is excellent with a lovely original patina and unworn bowl. This spoons' ownership can be tracked with the presence of three sets of engravings: original dot pricked betrothal triangle to the reverse terminal, mid-18th century "JG" to the top of the rattail and a late 18th century crest to the front terminal. A fabulous item.
