Item: Snuffers and Tray Description: Scissor-action
snuffers on rectangular tray Hallmark: London 1806 by Charles Goodwin
Dimensions: 392g combined
weight (snuffers weigh 100g and the tray weighs 192g)
Comments: A fine pair of candle snuffers (aka Wick Trimmers)
complete with it's original tray. The snuffers have a sprung scissor
action that snap shut when released to cut the wick or extinguish a flame.
The pointed end can be used if necessary to dig the wick out of the wax
prior to lighting. The tray displays a superbly engraved coat-of-arms. The
maker's mark on the tray is worn, but in all likelihood would not be the
same as on the snuffers as Goodwin was a specialist snuffer-maker.
