Item: Pair of Wine Coasters Description: Floral
chased sides and mounts Hallmark: Sheffield 1824 by John & Thomas Settle
Dimensions: 180mm diameter x 68mm high Comments: A
fabulous pair of George IV period wine coasters. It is rare to find an
original pair of large Georgian coasters with such superb chased decoration all of
which dates from the time of manufacture. These coasters retain their
original wooden bases complete with silver plate to the centre with
appropriately matching hallmarks.
These large coasters will hold bottles or decanters. The
internal diameter is 130mm (5"). They are in excellent original
condition with clear hallmarks. As an aside, the hallmarks pictured below
show the unusual feature of one coaster bearing the date letter with
Sheffield crown surmount struck twice.
