Item: Pair of Candlesticks Description: Cast, square
based with shell corners Hallmark: London 1755/62 by John Cafe & John Hyatt Dimensions: 250mm high; 1216g weight Comments: A
fine matched pair of cast Georgian candlesticks, both made by specialist
candlestick makers of the period. This pair were made seven years apart
but are an almost exact match. They both bear the same engraved coat-of-Arms to the
bases and presumably were once part of a much larger suite (they are
numbered "2" and "5" to the undersides). John Cafe died
in 1757, so I suspect that in 1762 the original owner went to John Hyatt as
an alternative supplier. The hallmarks
are also located to the undersides and each one is engraved with its' date of
manufacture. Excellent condition throughout.
