Antique Silver

Item: Cream Jug Description:  Hallmark: London 1732 by John Gamon Dimensions: 3.4" (48mm) diameter base; 1.8" (89mm) tall; 98g weight

Comments: A rare and first class example of the earliest definite form of cream jug. The plain baluster body of this pitcher style jug, sits on a low collet foot (slightly compressed) and the distinctive sparrow beak pouring spout droops slightly - in the manner of the finest examples. A further bonus with this example is the presence of the original planishing (hammer) marks which are faintly visible to both interior and around the lower section of the body on the exterior. The engraved crest of a horse's head dates from later in the 18thC. First class condition and patina.
