Item: Porringer Description: Chased floral
decoration and caryatid handles Hallmark: London
1668 by Richard Stonehill Dimensions: 100mm high, 100mm diameter,
180mm wide (inc handles) Comments: A fantastic
survivor from the early Charles II period. This good sized item is of
typical style for a Restoration porringer with simple cast, figural handles
and chased floral decoration. The interior is gilt (probably later). The
condition is superb with neither damage nor repairs and a first class set of
hallmarks for the period.
Pre-Restoration porringers are extremely rare and the early
Charles II date of this example is a particularly exciting find.
