Comments: This fantastic quality George I
period porringer is in outstanding condition. Ordinarily porringers of
this age have all manner of condition issues, however this piece has
neither damage nor repairs and retains a good patina. A further bonus is
the vacant cartouche with no erasures and the presence of the original
betrothal engravings to the underside. Additionally, the underside has a
later engraved betrothal triangle and a crest depicting a crowned lion
- the surname (beginning with "S") remains consistent and
is a sign that this was a family heirloom. Furthermore the Britannia
Standard hallmarks are in equally crisp condition with the unusual makers
mark of a conjoined "LO".
