Item: Dish Description: Round with
pedestal foot and cornucopia chasing Hallmark: London
1839 by S Hayne & D Cater Dimensions: 260mm diameter x 85mm
high; 477g weight
Comments: An excellent quality large, early
Victorian dish. The decoration to the top surface is flat-chased in the
form of cornucopia and flowers. Flat chasing is generally carried out on
trays and salvers and is a more striking and deeper way of decorating an
object compared to the more standard engraving. This dish would be ideal
as a fruit bowl or as a table centrepiece.
