Item: Teapot Description: Bullet-shape
with full Coat-of-Arms Hallmark: London 1886 by
Garrards Dimensions: 2.25pint; 245mm long (handle to spout) x
145mm high x 140mm max. diameter; 620 grams
Comments: This teapot is in the most desired
form of pot - the bullet shape (originally produced circa 1730) and the
style of this teapot is very reminiscent of the great Paul de Lamerie. This
teapot has a good hefty weight and pours beautifully. It is in fine
original condition and the interior has been professionally cleansed of
old tanin.
The teapot exudes quality as one would expect from the
Crown Jewellers (the crown above the James Garrard maker's mark denotes by
Royal appointment). All details have been superbly executed - the petalled
base of
the spout, the handle sockets and the fine flush (secret) hinge for the
cover. The shoulders of the teapot are engraved in a Gothic manner with a
winged putto to both sides. A full Coat-of-Arms has been engraved to one
side and is surmounted by a double crest of a lion and a Neolithic man and
two family mottoes.
