Item: Sugar Basket Description: Pierced
and bright-cut vase-shape on square pedestal foot Hallmark: London 1779 by Anne Chesterman
Dimensions: 80mm (diameter) x mm x 108 mm (high without handle); 90g weight
Comments: A very attractive Classical period
sugar basket with hinged swing handle made by a sought after lady
silversmith. The body of this vase-shaped basket is intricately and
expertly pierced and engraved with floral and urn motifs. It stands on a
square pedestal foot with engraved crest. The blue glass liner is a later
replacement (a good fit but with some movement). The overall condition is
very good, however there is a pin prick hole caused by the original
stamping of the lion passant mark (see photo of hallmarks).
