Item: Lemon Strainer Description: Reeded
rim with handle and hanging hook Hallmark: Edinburgh 1808 by Robert Gray &
Sons Dimensions: 98mm
diameter (excl. handle); 91 g weight
Comments: A lovely quality Scottish strainer
with an attractive pierced flower design to the bowl. The quality output
from the firm of Robert Gray and Sons has earned them the title of
"Paul Storr of the North", this lemon strainer is equal to that
testament. The condition is excellent and the hallmarks clear.
These strainers were intended for use with punch and so
were ideal for preventing the pips of oranges and lemons from dropping in
to the drink. The hook meant that it could be hung from the side of the
bowl. Nowadays, also ideal for cocktails, pancakes or even for
baking.
