Item: Spoon Description: Trefid Hallmark: Dublin
1696 by Joseph Walker Dimensions: 197mm long; 58g weight Comments: An
extremely rare 17th century Irish trefid spoon in very good condition. The
spoon bears the correct three marks to the reverse: date letter, crowned
harp and maker's mark - the latter is part rubbed and tricky to decipher -
Joseph Walker is our best interpretation of the mark.
There is a mid-18th century engraved betrothal triangle to
the reverse terminal. The bowl tip does show some small signs of wear as
the leading edge is sharp and lost some of its profile, however it does
look fine from above.17th century Irish silver is highly sought after and
this is a good example of the type at a very competitive price.
