Antique Silver

Item: Skewer Description: Ouroboros terminal Hallmark: London 1765 by John Lampfert Dimensions: 230mm; 91 g weight

Comments: This fine quality Georgian meat skewer has the unusual feature of a Ouroboros terminal. The Ouroboros is an ancient symbol of a snake or serpent eating its own tail. It represents the perpetuity of life - birth, life, death, re-birth....The terminal is also attractively engraved and bears a deep struck set of hallmarks for a fine quality maker. The skewer has a very hefty weight and is in excellent original condition.
