Comments: A good Victorian medical catheter
within hallmarked sheath.
According to the 1852 Directory of the Borough of
Sheffield, a William Skidmore of Fitzwilliam Street was a manufacturer of
surgeon's instruments, enema pumps, syringes etc. The Sheffield Assay
Office Registers have an entry for William Skidmore with his work address
at Enema Works, Cemetary Rd & Pearl St. The two addresses are within a
short walk of each other and they undoubtedly relate to the same person
and the maker of this piece..
