Item: Medicine Spoon Description: Gibson's Patent Hallmark: London
1827 by Charles Gibson Dimensions: 139mm long; 37g weight Comments: An
early example of a rare Gibson's Patent spoon. The spoon has a hollow
handle to allow the user to control the quantity of medicine consumed by
placing a finger over the aperture. This form of spoon was invented in
1827 and is engraved thus around the collar on the handle "C Gibson Inventor
1 Bishopsgate St Wethian". The hinge is in fine condition,
although there are some minor dings to the handle and bowl. The two sets of
hallmarks from the first year of it's manufacture are very clear .
