Antique Silver

Item:  Mote Spoon Description: Shell-back Hallmark: London circa 1745 Dimensions: 125mm long

Comments: An excellent example of a mid-18thC mote spoon with shell motif to the reverse of the bowl and diamond spike to the terminal. The design of the shell accurately dates the spoon to the 1740's, plus the shape of the lion passant punch confirms that dateline (mark used between 1740 and 1755). The maker's mark is visible but not quite legible. Fine condition throughout.
