Item: Caddy Spoon Description: Bright-cut handle and fluted bowl Hallmark: Birmingham 1797 (double duty) by Joseph Taylor Dimensions: 70mm long Comments: A pretty spoon with the added bonus of a clear example of the sought after double duty mark. Double duty was imposed on silver in 1797 to aid payment for the Napoleonic Wars.
